The Vendée Globe
The Vendée Globe is the toughest and longest sailing challenge in the world. Raced solo round the world in 60 foot yachts, with no stops or outside assistance, it’s the Everest of ocean racing.
Held every four years, competitors in the Vendée Globe typically spend 90 days at sea, clocking up 24,000 nautical miles powered only by the wind. Sailing in all weathers demands huge reserves of skill, courage and endurance. Since the race was founded in 1989, only 114 skippers have crossed the finish line.
